Wrenfield
Tees in rust, heather gray and black on white hangers along a black clothes rail, beside a canvas tote, against a gray wall

Premium everyday apparel, from Portland, Oregon

Fewer, better pieces. Sized honestly, repaired for free.

Merino knitted tight in family mills, Japanese selvedge sewn in Los Angeles, waxed cotton from England. Every page says how a piece fits and what it will do in the wash, and a seam, a zip or a snap that fails in two years is fixed in our workroom, not replaced.

The five most wardrobes start with

A sweater that keeps its shape, a tee whose collar does not give up, selvedge that says in inches what it will shrink, a base layer for the cold weeks and a jacket built to be re-waxed.

Seven lines, one short wardrobe

Knitwear came first, in 2016. The rest was added one piece at a time, each in a fabric worth naming and a cut we could describe honestly.

Sized honestly

What every product page tells you before you choose

Most of what people write to us about is fit, so we put the answer on the page: how the cut runs, which way to go between two sizes, and what the fabric does the first time it is washed.

Fit Finder

Your size, from a garment you already own

Tell us which piece you are looking at and the size of something in your closet that fits you well. The Fit Finder returns the Wrenfield size for that cut and says why: the same person is a different size in the Fisherman Rib, the Merino Crew and a pair of raw selvedge. It takes about a minute, and you see the result without leaving an email.

What we believe

The best thing we can make is the thing you do not have to buy again.

Theo spent ten years as a knitwear buyer, watching sweaters get a little thinner every season so that the price on the tag could stay the same. Nell was a pattern maker for technical outdoor apparel, where a seam either holds in the rain or it does not. Wrenfield started in 2016 with what they agreed on: one merino crew, knitted tight enough to keep its shape for years.

Tight knitting is slower and costs more. So does selvedge woven on old looms, and waxed cotton that has to be finished by hand. We would rather make a short wardrobe that way than a long one any other way, restock the core colors every season, and say plainly which pieces are a limited run that will not come back.

And when something fails, we fix it. A seam, a zip, a snap or a button is repaired free for two years in the workroom beside our warehouse, and at cost for as long as you own the piece after that. A jacket that comes back for a new zip four winters in is the business working the way it is meant to.

Repair Program

Built to be repaired rather than replaced

The repair program was written for the outerwear and covers everything we make. File a claim, print the free label, and the piece goes to the Portland workroom, where the repair team does the work and sends it back.

  • Free for two years: seams, zips, snaps and buttons under normal use
  • After two years, the same repairs at cost
  • Free hemming on denim, on request once you have worn the pair in
  • A waxed jacket stays covered while it is re-waxed once a season
