Wrenfield

We repair what we sell

A Wrenfield piece is built to be repaired rather than replaced. If a seam opens, a zip fails, or a snap or a button pulls out under normal use, we fix it: free for two years from delivery, and at cost for as long as you own the piece after that. The work is done in our own workroom in Portland.

Sewing tools laid out on a gray table: tailor's shears, embroidery scissors, needles, a tape measure, three spools of thread, a seam ripper, safety pins and buttons
A two-way brass zip being replaced on a Waxed Field Jacket.

What is covered, and what is not

Covered: a failure under normal use Not covered: wear and care
A seam that opens Pilling on merino and cashmere, and shedding on a brushed scarf
A zip that sticks, splits or stops tracking Fading, including indigo and garment dye
A snap or a button that pulls out Abrasion at cuffs, hems and pocket edges
A baffle seam on a puffer that loses fill A crushed corduroy pile or matted fleece
A dropped stitch or a hole at a seam Damage from washing against the care label
A rivet that comes away A waxed jacket that was not re-waxed once a season

When a repair is not possible, the repair team decides whether a replacement or a credit is the fairer answer. That decision is theirs, and they explain it.

How to send a piece in

  1. File the claim

On the repairs page, with your order number, your email and a photo of what failed.

  2. Print the free label

It ships the piece to the Portland workroom. Any bag or box will do.

  3. The repair team reviews it

They confirm what they will do. For an at-cost repair, they quote the cost first.

  4. The work is done

We do not publish a turnaround; the team gives one for your claim.

  5. It comes back to you

    With its own tracking.

Hemming

Hemming on denim is free, on request, through the same page. Wear the pair in first, and soak a raw pair before you decide on the length: a hemmed pair is final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

Waxed jackets

A waxed jacket is meant to be re-proofed every season, and it keeps its warranty only while it is. Never machine-wash or dry clean it. Sponge it with cold water, and re-wax it with the Jacket Bar Wax: warm the tin, work the wax in with a cloth, and set it with a hairdryer.

Not sure it is a defect?

Light pilling, a little shedding, slub texture, crushed pile and raw denim shrinking as described are how those fabrics behave. A hole, a dropped stitch, a seam or a zip that fails, a snap that pulls out, or dye that bleeds on a first cold wash is a defect. If you cannot tell, send us a photo and we will say which it is.

Repair questions

It was a gift, or I bought it from a stockist.

The repairs page looks an order up by its number and email, so it cannot take that claim. Write to us: we gather the whole claim in the conversation, photos included, and hand it to the repair team.

My piece is more than two years old.

The same repairs are done at cost. The repair team tells you the cost before any work.

I am a Workroom member.

Membership includes one free repair a year on any Wrenfield piece, even one outside the warranty.

Can you send me a new one instead?

A replacement is the repair team's decision, when a repair is not possible.

How long does a repair take?

We do not publish a turnaround. The repair team gives one with your claim.

Will you re-wax my jacket?

Ask on the repairs page. A re-wax is not a warranty repair, and the team will say what it costs.
