Fit, wear and care
  1. To remove pilling, lay the sweater flat on a table.
  2. Draw the comb across the surface in one direction, with light pressure. Do not scrub back and forth.
  3. To wash, add a capful of wool wash to cold water, soak for ten minutes and press the water out in a towel.
  4. Dry knitwear flat.
  5. Put the cedar block in the drawer with folded knitwear, and sand it lightly once a year to renew it.
  • Wash knitwear cold, by hand or on the wool cycle, and always dry it flat
  • Wash denim rarely, inside out and cold, and hang it to dry
  • Never tumble-dry wool, cashmere blends or waxed cotton
  • Re-wax waxed jackets once a season and never machine-wash or dry-clean them

Questions

Asked about Sweater Care Kit

Does the comb damage a sweater?

Used flat, in one direction and with light pressure, it lifts the pills and leaves the knit. Scrubbing back and forth is what roughs up a surface.

Is pilling a defect?

Light pilling on merino and cashmere is normal wear: loose surface fiber working its way out. A hole, a dropped stitch or a seam opening is a defect.

How long does the wool wash last?

About 30 hand washes. The date printed on the bottle is the one that counts.

Does cedar really keep moths away?

Cedar discourages moths from folded knitwear. It is a deterrent, not a cure for an existing problem.

Does the wool wash contain lanolin?

Yes. If you avoid lanolin, do not use it.

    The comb works

Two minutes and my Merino Crew looked new.

    Gentle wash

My knits come out soft, not stripped.

  3. Auberon F.

    Small bottle

250 ml goes further than it looks, but I would buy a larger one.

  4. Tindra K.

    No moth holes this year

One block per drawer. First spring without a casualty.

  5. Leopold M.

    Fisherman Rib owner

    Comb caught a loose stitch

I pressed too hard on a pulled thread and made it worse. Go lightly, and avoid snags.

  6. Sabine R.

    Gift

Bought with a sweater as a gift

It made the present feel complete.

Works on the big rib too

    Gently, on the cuffs.

  8. Odalys V.

    Knitwear owner

Wash has a faint wool smell

It is the lanolin. It fades when dry.
