Every fabric we use is listed here with its composition and its country. The same information is on each product page, under Fabric and construction. We name the fabric and the place; we do not make a claim about a fabric that the composition does not support.

Gauge is the number of stitches per inch of the knitting machine. A higher number is a finer, tighter knit. Tight knitting uses more yarn and takes longer, and it is the reason a sweater keeps its shape. Micron is the thickness of the fiber: at 18.5, merino is fine enough that most people can wear it on bare skin.

Selvedge denim is woven on narrow shuttle looms, which finish each edge of the cloth so it cannot fray; that finished edge is the line you see at the outseam when a cuff is turned. Raw Indigo is unsanforized, meaning it has not been pre-shrunk, which is why it loses about a size in the waist on its first hot soak.
Leather Belt: full-grain vegetable-tanned leather with a solid brass buckle, made in Oregon.
Jacket Bar Wax: a paraffin and beeswax blend, unscented, made in Oregon.
Sweater Care Kit: a beechwood comb, a red cedar block and a 250 ml lanolin wool wash, made in the USA.
What we do not claim
We do not call any fabric hypoallergenic, and we do not say a fabric is safe for a skin condition.
We do not claim an OEKO-TEX certification for our dyes. Nothing is claimed beyond the published composition.
Buttons on the cardigan and the overcoat are genuine horn; the Jacket Bar Wax contains beeswax; the wool wash contains lanolin. If you avoid animal materials, those are the ones to know.
The production code of each piece is on the care label sewn inside it. If you ever write to us about a fabric, that code is the first thing we will ask for.
