Fit, wear and care
  1. Take your usual size. It is cut regular, to go over a tee.
  2. Zip it up against wind; open it to vent on a climb.
  3. Close the zip before washing, so the teeth do not catch the knit.
  4. Wool cycle, cold, with wool wash. Dry it flat.
  5. If the zip ever sticks or stops tracking, do not force it: that is a free repair for two years.
  • Wash knitwear cold, by hand or on the wool cycle, and always dry it flat
  • Wash denim rarely, inside out and cold, and hang it to dry
  • Never tumble-dry wool, cashmere blends or waxed cotton
  • Re-wax waxed jackets once a season and never machine-wash or dry-clean them

Questions

Asked about Merino Quarter-Zip

How does it fit?

Regular and true to size, with room for a tee underneath.

Crew or Quarter-Zip?

It is the same merino. The zip lets you vent, and the stand collar keeps wind off, which suits hiking, travel and cool mornings. The Crew has no hardware, which makes it the cleaner pick under a jacket or over a collared shirt.

Is the zip covered?

Yes. A zip that fails under normal use is repaired free for two years from delivery, and at cost after that.

Does the zip touch the neck?

There is a knitted guard behind the top of the zip. If the hardware bothers your skin anyway, stop wearing it and write to us; we would rather hear about it.

Does it hold odor?

Merino resists odor well, which is why people travel in it. Airing it overnight is usually enough between washes.

    My travel sweater

Four flights, one wash. It still smells of nothing. Medium fits like my other mediums.

  2. Priya D.

    Verified buyer

Navy · 5'5", usually S, bought S: true to size

    Collar keeps the wind out

Zipped to the chin on a ridge walk and my neck stayed warm.

  3. Julian R.

    Verified buyer

Charcoal · 6'0", usually L, bought L: true to size

    Zip pull is small

With gloves on, the pull is fiddly. Everything else is right.

  4. Maren O.

    Verified buyer

Moss · 5'8", usually M, bought M: true to size

    Zip repaired without fuss

The slider came off its track at fourteen months. Free label, back in my hands with a new zip.

  5. Idris M.

    Verified buyer

Charcoal · 5'9", usually M, bought M: true to size

    Collar stands a bit stiff

When it is unzipped, the collar does not lie flat; it sort of flops. Zipped up it is great. Minor, but it bugs me.

  6. Clara V.

    Verified buyer

Navy · 5'6", usually S, bought S: true to size

    Same merino, more useful

I own the Crew too. I reach for this one more because I can open it indoors.

  7. Thorsten W.

    Verified buyer

Charcoal · 6'4", usually XL, bought XL: good length

Good length for a tall person

XL covers my belt when I raise my arms.

  8. Naomi S.

    Verified buyer

Moss · 5'1", usually XS, bought XS: long in the body

    Slightly long on me

XS fits in the body, a bit long at the hem. I am short. Not a complaint, just a note.
